About the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become our State Manager for New South Wales.

This senior role has three key areas of accountability: leadership, business development and contract management.

As the leader of our New South Wales practice, you will direct all commercial activities, demonstrate collaborative behaviour, contribute to the Australian Leadership Team on strategy and governance initiatives and lead your team by example.

This role also involves business development. Spearheading the winning of new business, building relationships with client and partners, owning client accounts and building a sales pipeline.

You will have the remit to continue building a team of consultants around you and to oversee all state assignments, acting as a Project Director.

Collaboration is one of our core values and you will partner with our Regional Managing Director, regional State Managers and Sector/Service Line Directors to ensure all projects are delivered profitably and to a high standard.

About you:

As an experienced leader within the Rail industry, you will assume the role of NSW State Manager to lead the location with commercial nous, a strong marketing approach, and ensure the delivery of excellence in client engagement, resulting in supporting the growth ambitions on the business.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Significant experience in one or more of the following railway disciplines: strategic planning, business case development, scheme development, capital project delivery, operations, asset management or maintenance;
  • Extensive knowledge of New South Wales Railways;
  • Extensive Project Management experience, organising and allocating work, prioritising, and overseeing deliverables;
  • Consulting Business Development experience in the Australian Railway market;
  • Well-developed skills in: problem solving and written/verbal communication, collaborative working and time/priority management;
  • Strong commercial focus with regards to contract and business management;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with strong presence and the natural ability to build long-lasting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Although not essential, it would be desirable to have a university degree, knowledge of HSQE management systems and membership to a relevant professional rail body.
