Job description
This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking and action-orientated HR professional to provide functional leadership and strategic direction to the HR department. Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a highly visible role and provides the opportunity for an individual to lead and develop the company’s people strategy. You will drive change and mitigate risk across the organisation.
What you will be doing
- Lead the company’s HR function and provide support to the board on all HR matters
- Develop the HR departmental plan (aligned with the company’s business plan) and ensure it is achieved
- Ensure HR provides proactive support to the business, to enable growth and reduce risk
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the HR department and drive continuous improvement in these processes
- Ensure the company is compliant with employment legislation
- Identify risks and provide advice to the board on how to address these
- Oversee the non-operational learning and development of employees
- Guide and support managerial staff in HR related matters such as absence management, disciplinaries, appraisals, and succession planning
- Work closely with the Finance department to provide accurate employee and headcount information for payroll and reporting purposes
- Budgetary responsibility for the HR department
- Line management and continuous development of the HR Manager

What we need from you
- Be CIPD qualified to level 7 or equivalent
- Extensive experience in HR management or leadership roles with a proven track record of leadership success
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Ability to lead a HR team to deliver on HR projects and initiatives
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt to changes and tackle challenges efficiently and effectively under pressure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on driving continuous improvement to proactively drive solutions
- Commercially sound approach to make people related decisions in a fair and responsible manner
- Strategic mindset and data driven approach, with a proven ability to align HR initiatives with business goals
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage, influence and challenge at all levels
- Full UK driving licence to travel across the UK to various sites
