Head of Engineering/Product Development


Reporting to the Operations Director, your role will involve management and leadership of the Company’s highly skilled engineers and experts in the delivery of strategic aims, projects, products, and services.

You will have management of the company’s engineering systems and processes including:

  • Part creation, BOM, BOO
  • SOP and technical documents
  • Manufacturing Process Improvement and development

You will also take successful management of the R & D and product development, function and processes, including:

  • Leading a customer centric approach to NPD
  • Driving innovation of new product, technology, and services. Creating and enhancing products to increase sales and NPDR ratio
  • Development and streamlining of the NPD process, including taking ownership of product designs and approvals
  • Technical file conformance - product safety and certification
  • Sourcing and specifying new components
  • Providing specialist technical guidance across the organisation, coaching and mentoring team members
  • NPD support to the group

The key performance indicators for this role will be:


  • To determine and agree strategic and budget targets with Directors.
  • Agree and deliver against an evolving development plan
  • Strategic development of new products and technologies
  • Improve speed to market for new products
  • New Product Development Ratio NPDR
  • Uphold the accuracy of data and the quality of drawings

The person

To be considered for this opportunity, we're looking for someone degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electronics Design or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.

Someone who will be able to demonstrate a proven and commercially successful new product introduction launch from concept through to production gained in a technical/engineered product development environment.

You will already be working in a similar capacity as Engineering Manager/ Head of Engineering or Technical Manager and possess strong management, leadership and development skills coupled with a strong understanding of NPD/market dynamics.
