Program Overview:
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 4 (T4) to Parsons as the prime contractor. This $1.3 billion+ contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 400-500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Electrical Engineer to join our team!
What You'll Be Doing:
- Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, detailed analyses, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
- Prepare material quality takeoffs and engineering estimates.
- Provide direction to and collaborate with project engineers, project management and installation staff
- Develop and write design and construction scopes of work
- Write survey reports and make recommendations based upon information gathered during the site survey and professional judgment.
- Prepare engineering and installation man-hour estimates for all project phases
- Develop short circuit, load flow, and arc-flash assessment studies.
- Research and prepare detailed back up information for construction cost estimates.
- Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and Engineers working on the same project.
- Review supplier drawing submittals, respond to field requests for information and perform technical bid analysis implement TSSC Safety and Quality programs into design work.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college. (Third party evaluation of ABET equivalency may be accepted.)
- SKM, ETAP, or EDSA/PALADIN is required.
- 3+ years of electrical design and supervision related experience.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred in the discipline of Electrical or EIT with the goal of obtaining professional licensing within 1 year of hire.
- Must be able to pass government background check.
- Some travel in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Territories of the US for site surveys, inspections, and meetings may be required.
- Working knowledge of National Codes is required
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Recent knowledge of off the shelf short circuit, load flow, protective device, and arc-flash study software
- Working knowledge of FAA standards and specifications
- Familiar with construction practices and safe work procedures.
- Previous experience in engineering consulting with federal agencies is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications, be totally familiar with construction-related processes related to area of assignment, and have the potential to perform in a lead capacity.
- Ability to solve problems with persons inside and outside an organization to find mutually beneficial solutions.
- Ability to plan and manage multiple simultaneous projects and work activities in accordance with cost, schedule and technical baselines.
