Job Title: Head of Education (Vice Principal)
Accountable to: Principal
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum
Core Purpose of the Head of Education (Vice Principal)
The Head of Education (Vice Principal) will provide the leadership required to achieve good and outstanding outcomes in terms of the quality of learning and teaching across the school, the curriculum content, and meeting student needs to overcome individual barriers and support the development of a love and enjoyment of learning.
The key strategic responsibilities are:

Schemes of Learning, and Lesson Planning

Qualifications
QTS.
Higher Degree or evidence of continuous professional study
Evidence of continuing professional development or further professional study
Clean and current car driving license
Willingness to complete the NPQH
Evidence of leadership CPD at senior level, eg - NPQSL or NPQH or a recognised Leadership Pathway such as one from Ambition Institute.
SEND specific qualification such as SENCO.
DSL Training and Safer Recruitment Training
Leadership Experience
Ensure a high level of presence around school and promote staff morale/wellbeing and ownership of the school’s vision, values and policies
Ability to develop students’ moral, spiritual, physical and social progress.
Support the Principal to ensure that statutory requirements are met
Senior Leadership experience at Assistant Head/Deputy Head level in a special or mainstream setting.
Successful experience of effectively leading Teaching and Learning Staff.
Successful experience of leading high quality training
Develop high-quality leadership in curriculum areas through effective line management of middle and senior leaders
Successful experience in planning and organising educational programmes appropriate to individual's needs and abilities;
Thorough understanding of the Educational Inspection Framework and National Curriculum at KS3 to 5.
Evidence of monitoring whole school targets and outcomes.
Successful experience in taking a lead role in curriculum development for students with additional learning needs;
Experience of timetabling a Curriculum.
Experience of working with Governors, Trustees, and/or a LAB.
Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding procedures;
Understanding of EHCPs and their application
Successful experience of working effectively within specialist education with ASD students.Experience of Leading EIF Section 109 and knowledge of Independent School Standards
Experience of working with Local Authorities.
Whole School Timetable experience
Experience of working with a Clinical Team
Experience of Working in a Residential Special School and/or Children’s Home.
National Curriculum at KS2.
Ability to budget effectively and manage a budget.
Teaching and Learning
Understanding of pedagogy, best practice and research informed teaching and learning strategies for young people with ASD (eg – Lemov/Rosenshine’s Principals of Action).
Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
Promote a research led strategic approach to continually improving the quality of learning and teaching across the school.
Knowledge and experience of School Improvement and Change Management
Experience of undertaking effective self-evaluation strategies, including data analysis, lesson observation, scrutiny of students’ work and stakeholder consultation
Proven track record of improving teacher performance through performance management, classroom observation, coaching and training
Ability to plan and lead on a School Improvement Plan and School Development Plan.
Commitment to inclusive education providing opportunity for achievement for all
High expectations for every pupil and a proven track record of making a difference to the learning and experiences
Ability to coach, mentor and deliver high quality training to ECT, Unqualified, and SCITT Trainees.
