So, what is a Head of Digital Learning Content
Job titles can be an enigma these days, so let's break it down a little!

Digital learning has emerged as the most agile and accessible type of learning for people and for us here at Sponge to keep our competitive advantage, we too must use our own critical skills to be aware of emerging issues and topics and ensure that we continue to deliver a content proposition that excites and engages current and future learners. This includes readily available (off the shelf), interactive and digital content that is engaging, effective, inclusive, compliant, and up to date. Content that meets the requirements of our global customers and can be understood in many languages, content that meets statutory country or industry requirements and importantly, is also fit for improving life, technical and soft skills.
As we continue our journey as a leader in the e-learning industry, we continue to grow the number of global, high-profile clients we service. This has driven an increased need for a senior leader to own our content strategy and lead the fabulous team of people that we have at Sponge that already write great content for our global portfolio of businesses.
As well as advising the Senior Leadership team at Sponge, this role will work closely with its key direct reports and others across our business such as our Technology, Commercial and Production teams.
This role will have overall accountability for the development and commercial success of the content library, the management of content and reseller partners, and leadership of a team of talented individuals based largely in the UK and Germany (some overseas travel will be needed).
We need people who will:
Be at ease taking charge of the following:
- Create and execute an OTS content strategy informed by existing product portfolio and industry insights
- Working with our reseller partners across senior commercial, strategic, and operational roles in pursuit of shared sales growth and operational efficiency goals.
- Overall responsibility for revenue success of the library content.
- Defining and evaluating success metrics, including tracking the progress of projects.
- Recognise and evaluate market opportunities including the latest learning trends
- Lead the content development process including line management of a remote team (overseas travel required)
- Ensure all content across our product portfolio is up to date and legally compliant
- Identify and act upon opportunities for the creation of new and exciting learning products
- Inform and influence commercial decision making with a sound understanding of production processes and profitability
We need people who can show:
- Demonstrable experience of growing a content library business
- Proven experience at Senior leadership level
- An interest in CPD and research to ensure that you remain clear on emerging priorities and the needs of the changing workplace
- Proven track record of overseeing multiple workstreams or activities running in parallel
- A strong cultural understanding of the global learning environment
- Experience of project management in a technical or creative industry would be highly preferable;
It would be nice if you had but not essential….
- Fluency in another language, preferably German

- You must be a creative 'doer' as much as a leader and be able to see both the big picture & be in the weeds.

Location
Our new headquarters is in the Bristol area (The Paintworks). We offer a mix of home and office working because we believe both are necessary for a high performing team. We know you need some time to concentrate and avoid constant commuting, so homeworking is essential, but we also feel face-to-face time is important too.
We work in a Hybrid way with ideally 3 days per week in the office and the rest of the week worked remotely. We offer flexible working options also to help find the right work-life balance for you.
We currently have main offices in the UK in Bristol, Plymouth, Glasgow, and in Europe in Berlin and Brussels.
