Applications are invited for the Head of Department - Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering (M3). The Head of Department position present an exciting opportunity to provide leadership, development, and management of the Department. As a member of the Faculty Executive Board, the successful candidate will also be highly involved in the on-going development and delivery of faculty strategy as we seek to nurture our people to achieve their best, collaborating to maximise our potential, impact, and contribution to society.
The Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering (M3) is the largest department in the Faculty of Engineering. It offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses to over 1800 students. There are 105 academic staff within the department who deliver teaching and undertake research within our 21 research groups, centres and institutes. Our research is impactful, award-winning and has some of the highest levels of reach and significance in the UK (Research Excellence Framework 2021).
This is a permanent professorial appointment with the first four years as Head of Department, with the potential for renewal for a second term. The role-holder will also receive a leadership allowance.
