Head of Data Engineering & Operations
Salary up to £150,000
We are currently recruiting for a Head of Data Engineering & Operations, working in our market-leading UK General Insurance Business spanning both Personal and Commercial lines. The team also form part of Quantum, our global data practice supporting collaboration and world-class training & development in partnership with the University of Cambridge and the Alan Turing Institute.
A bit about the job:
As the Head of Data Engineering & Operations you will lead and develop large teams of Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers and Data Management experts to help support and embed data-led decision making across the business. You will play a key role in building out and delivering our data strategy and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality data products to support critical processes and insight across a diverse stakeholder base.
It is an exciting time to join Aviva, with significant ongoing investment into Data and AI and this role is critical to continuing to evolve and transform our data capability. You will help build a high-calibre Data Engineering, DataOps and MLOps capability and evolve our approach to technology, operating model and talent. Through strong and beneficial relationships with industry and market partners you will bring new insight and approaches to Aviva, driving continuous innovation and enhancement. You will also help shape the design and build of Aviva data capabilities and strategy, ensuring robust data management, governance and security protocols are embedded.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
Deep understanding of data and ML engineering including best practice, technology and architecture
Deep understanding of data management strategies and experience of successfully embedding at scale
Experience in driving meaningful data-led transformation
The ability to effectively lead a large and diverse team and connect with Senior partners from across the organisation
The ability to work collaboratively to evolve and deliver effective outcomes

Starting salary up to £150,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
Bonus opportunity – 25% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
