Job description

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Head of Communications (Corporate) to ensure our Communications and Corporate Affairs strategy and activities line up and support the Group’s growth programme. The successful candidate will be a senior communications professional or an ambitious individual ready to take the step up, with strong experience in developing and executing high-profile communications programs. In addition, experience of government relations and social/digital media programs are preferable. The role is hands-on. The team is in its infancy and this opportunity provides the right person with a fantastic opportunity to continue to develop the Group’s approach.

This role can be based in either our London or Manchester HQ.

Key responsibilities

  • Accountable for managing and enhancing the Group’s reputation globally, and for developing a strong Communications and Corporate Affairs strategy focussing on the Group’s core markets of the UK and the US.
  • Working closely with the Investor Relations team, Chief People Officer, General Counsel, and The Executive Board and Directors to lead the development and execution of a corporate communications strategy that supports the Group’s business priorities and objectives.
  • To lead crisis response for the Group.
  • To support the Group’s engagement with local and national Government, key stakeholders, official institutions, business associations to help support the Group’s strategic priorities.
  • To initiate the research, writing and development of executive communications, including issues briefs, media talking points, speeches, presentations, online communications and employee meetings and events.
  • Working with the General Counsel, to provide counsel to The Executive Board and business Directors on a wide range of business issues that require communications support.
  • To partner and support colleagues in executing the Group’s ESG and D&I agendas.
  • To build external networks and partnerships that support the Group’s business priorities and positively build upon its reputation.

Skills required

  • Experience and knowledge in Communications and Corporate Affairs,
  • Strong communication and project planning experience with a demonstrable track record of execution
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to present results and influence stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including attention to detail
  • Able to serve as a trusted advisor to all group business leaders
  • Passionate about issues and priorities impacting the apparel industry including sustainability, diversity, inclusion & belonging
  • Advanced knowledge of many current and emerging communications technologies
  • Experience of working in a growing international business
