The Head of Catering and Retail Services will be responsible for the delivery of an innovative, modern, quality provision that meets the needs of our students, staff, and visitors to the University.
The Head of Catering and Retail Services will be responsible for the delivery of an innovative, modern, quality provision that meets the needs of our students, staff, and visitors to the University. You will lead the development of the catering and retail strategy, whilst modernising the existing food and beverage provision, ensuring the offers exceed customer expectations and generate business development opportunities. The role will be pivotal in ensuring the department is commercially focused and generates a financial surplus through its catering, retail, hospitality and events, and franchise operations.
You will need to be a proactive leader, enthusiastic with professional expertise, focusing on areas of compliance, consistency of delivery, sustainability and meeting customer expectations and demands. You will need to be a team player working and motivating those within your team across the University Estate, whilst being a positive and supportive member of the Senior Leadership Team within the Estates and Facilities Directorate.
You must have a Hospitality and/or business-related subject qualification. You should have experience of a multi-site catering service and skills gained in a similarly diverse environment, together with demonstrable knowledge and skills of delivering customer service excellence. Sound written and verbal communication, together with a good understanding of IT and industry-relevant software are key to this role, together with a thorough understanding of event administration and financial responsibilities.
A natural positive attitude towards a busy/pressurised environment and the ability to work flexibly across the week to the requirements the business is essential to this role.
This is a full-time role, 5 days out of 7, including evenings and weekends to suit the needs of the events that are taking place.
