Location

Any Acas Office with an element of working from home. This post requires regular travel to London as well as occasional travel to other offices. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in Great Britain and not overseas. You will be asked to express a location preference during the application process. Informal hybrid arrangements are available and the balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager to achieve the right balance between collaboration, in-person engagement and flexibility.

Acas is at an exciting time as we change our structure, ways of working and culture to be fit for the future.

In this role you will manage Acas' enterprise architecture; drive the vision, strategy and roadmaps from a business, technology and data perspective. This includes new developments in tooling and approaches to managing the digital and data estate. Guide the organisation to make appropriate business, technology and data decisions by recommending reuse, sustainability and scalability, to achieve value for money and reduce risk. Manage a team of architects, ensuring their work is strategically aligned and on track. You will create policies, standards and associated articles to ensure management of the enterprise and data architecture. This includes data models, data quality, data retention and data catalogues. Develop and embed data quality monitoring and metrics to improve the data architecture and the quality of the data used and stored by Acas. You will be accountable for supporting the delivery of the Technology, Digital and Data Strategy, via relevant work in the enterprise architecture area.

Job description

  • Architecture Ownership - Accountable for management and development of Acas' enterprise and data architecture, driving the digital, technology and data vision, in line with business priorities, achieving value for money and reducing risk.
  • Support and advise on the development of a future state architecture, aligned to strategy
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of business issues, events and activities, and their short to long term impact. Support the defining principles, patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements.
  • Responsible for the development of relevant polices, standards and catalogues
  • Data Quality - Accountable for data quality monitoring and metrics within the data architecture
  • Data Retention - Accountable for the development, implementation and monitoring of a Data Retention policy, across the estate.
  • Data Storage and Footprint - Accountable for the data footprint and identification and management of unstructured data
  • Business Relationships - Accountable for working with the business to capture processes, data sources, data flows and their requirements, ensuring they are aligned with the data architecture
  • Technology, Digital and Data Strategy Support - Accountable for supporting the delivery of the Strategy. via relevant work in the enterprise architecture area, including improvements in data management and technical data governance
  • Business Improvement - Accountable for the development and implementation of new approaches and tooling to support the development of the Data Architecture within Acas
  • Project Support - Accountable for providing direction to new and existing IT projects in relation to Data Architecture and Data Management, supporting delivery at pace.
  • Project Assessments - Accountable for managing and co ordinating assessments, reports and projects related to improvements in Data Architecture and Data Management, including the introduction of new tooling
  • Data Auditing - Accountable for developing and managing a process to continuously audit data management system performance, liaising with stakeholders and senior management regarding issues that arise.
  • Stakeholder Relationships - Develop the architecture community by managing stakeholder relationships within DDaT and the wider business in relation to Enterprise and Data Architecture
  • Manage a geographically dispersed team of architects, ensuring their work is strategically aligned and on track

Person specification

Experience

Essential:

  • Ability to demonstrate extensive experience in the field of enterprise, technical and data architecture, covering a wide range of activities, aligning to the technology, digital and data requirements of the role; to ensure business priorities, value for money and risk are all considerations.
  • Ability to demonstrate the creation of and embedding of relevant architectural policies, standards and models.
  • Experience of working across the business to ensure strategic needs are captured within the vision and roadmaps of the enterprise architecture.
  • Experience of advising and developing the future state architecture of an organisation to meet strategic needs, including a working knowledge of cloud technologies.
  • Experience of applying best practice Data Management methods, to develop data quality metrics to optimise system performance
  • Experience of applying best in practice architectural concepts and processes, including working with relevant tooling that supports enterprise architecture development, mapping and monitoring.

Qualifications

Recognised architectural qualification e.g., TOGAF, BCS
