Full Time Grays, England 10.55 GBP HOURLY Today
Job description

About the Role

Stifford Clays Medical Practice has an opportunity for a receptionist to join our team, on a part-time basis working 15 hours per week in the following, proposed shift pattern:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 1.30pm – 6.30pm

There is more to our receptionist roles than answering the phone and making appointments. In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed. The main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Greeting and directing all patients;
  • Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required;
  • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.;
  • Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints;
  • Advising patients of practice procedures;
  • Registering new patients;
  • Answering the telephone, promptly.

About the Candidate

We are looking for a receptionist to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community. We would welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of customer service and have the following attributes:
  • Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner;
  • Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times;
  • Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations;
  • Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet";
  • Strong IT and administration skills;
  • Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable;
  • We are a SystmOne practice so knowledge of this would be an advantage, but training will be offered for the right candidate.
Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

Stifford Clays Medical Practice is located in Thurrock and has a patient list of 10,000. We have an excellent reputation, streamlined processes, with a “Good” CQC rating and high achievement for QoF. We are also very active in the local (Grays) PCN.
