About The Team:
Hounslow Council is looking for a highly skilled individual to join our Access to Education Team and lead our Attendance, Fair Access, Exclusion and Children Missing Education services working with schools, young people, families, and other agencies to identify barriers to accessing Education, attendance and causes of school absence. The Team is responsible for promoting equality of opportunity for all children to enable access to ensure that the statutory duties and responsibilities for the Local Authority’s in relation to attendance, Children Missing Education, Child Employment and Entertainment, Fair Access and Exclusions are met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. The postholder will manage strategic and operational support for schools and individuals regarding attendance.
2. To lead on the development and implementation of the Authority’s effective strategies, policies, practices, and procedures based on legislative requirements in relation to Fair Access and Attendance.
3.To provide an overview of Attendance and Persistent Absence and challenge schools and professionals in their work on improving attendance.
4. To Chair the Fair Access Panel and provide an overview of the Fair Access processes including the statutory requirements as laid down in the School Standards and Framework Act 1998
Your Skills:
1.You have experience of working with data sets, with a proven ability to utilise a range of computer software, and have a working knowledge of the principles of information governance.
2.You are organised and efficient and have experience of working under pressure to strict deadlines and prioritising workload, whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
3.You work confidently with colleagues, demonstrating positive values, culture and behaviours and a flexible approach to work, ensuring the best outcomes for the service.
4.You have excellent verbal and written communications skills with an ability to communicate and promote inter-agency co-operation to ensure a holistic approach to pupil out of school issues.
