Job description
The Guitar Social has taken the traditional guitar class and turned it on its head with a range of beginnersthrough to advanced group guitar lessons and courses, jams and events.
We're all about making session fun for the students (all adults) with the sessions being run typically from pubs, over a pint, where the songs lead and the learning is snuck in.
We currently hold classes throughout the week in East London and Kings Cross and we're now ready to expand into Ealing. We're looking for a tutor to run our Ealing classes on a Monday and Wednesday evening and Sunday day time. These classes will be beginner, improver and intermediate level initially. The classes normally have between 7 and 10 students, last an hour and 15 minutes and are jam based; normally covering 2 songs per session with learning integrated within the songs.
No teaching experience required - full training, support and development provided
Must be proficient on guitar - grade 7 or equivalent and very passionate about music
You would be teaching for about 8 hours per week and preparing for the sessions (by learning songs) roughly 7 hours per week.
The pay is based on a partnership model, whereby the more members you have in your class, the more you are paid, with a set minimum per session of £20 regardless of number of students present.
The Role
- Deliver progressive and inclusive music lessons in a group setting
- Teach and inspire adults on guitar through your energy and enthusiasm
- Provide a fun and relaxed environment
- Complete simple daily administration tasks where required.
Skills and Experience
- Grade 7 or equivalent on guitar - you don't have to be amazing but you should be able to field any question and play in a way that inspires others
- Willing to sing in class. Again, you don't have to be a great singer but you must be willing to sing the songs you teach
- Excellent communication and social skills
- Be outgoing, confident, and approachable with high energy, interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm.
- Be a strong independent worker
Benefits
- Partnership based pay - the more students, the higher your pay. You can take an active role in bringing more students in
- Monday and Wednesday evening only. Sunday day time only. The rest of the hours are flexible.
- A fun and relaxed work environment
Additional information
Your work in Ealing will begin oficially in June however we're looking for holiday cover from 1st May to 23rd May in Kings Cross on Monday, Wednesday evening and Saturday day time
