It’s an exciting time at M&S as we continue our major transformation, reshaping ourselves to drive shareholder value. We are currently refocusing the strategy and transformation plan for the business and our Group Strategy team is at the heart of this, leading the Group agenda and supporting senior leadership at M&S answer their big strategic questions. Our teams act as a Strategy Centre of Excellence and our remit covers both the Food and Clothing & Home sides of the business, as well as corporate topics.
As Group Strategy Manager you will contribute to formulating strategy across M&S. This is a key role supporting the overall transformation plan as well as providing relevant insights to help the business make the right decisions and address key challenges. It is a highly visible role, working with senior partners in the business to solve their key strategic problems. You are also encouraged to be a key figure in developing our Analysts.
Key Responsibilities:- Identify and lead strategic analysis of important business challenges and opportunities to influence strategy development, including evaluation of existing business processes
- Develop solutions and action plans based on your analysis - assessing different solutions
- Develop financial models and cases to support your analyses and enable data-driven decision-making
- Distil data, insights and information into clear and compelling written presentations / strategic papers including for the PLC Board
- Present findings to senior partners and influence decision-making
- Collaborate with partners across the Group in support of all of the above
- Ideally you will have experience of working in a strategy/management consulting firm, arming you with a “consulting toolkit”
- Outstanding analytical skills, including skills in financial modelling and strategic evaluation
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Able to demonstrate influence; able to work with partners at all levels of the organisation
- Confidence and poise in addressing management and senior leaders
- Focus on details, accuracy, and quality
- Intellectually curious, high energy and resilient
- Flexible and able to balance multiple projects / priorities
