A central part of G’s is people, and within this, our independent Ethics Team is seeking a Group Ethics and Human Rights Officer to support the delivery of our Ethics and Human Rights Strategy to drive the highest levels of human rights due diligence and world class ethical practices throughout our operations and supply chain.
As a key member of our Ethics and Human Rights team, you will work on a range of projects, initiatives and programmes which will include:
Auditing & Investigation:
- Conduct effective and thorough ethical audits internally and externally against ETI, SMETA standards, GLAA licensing standards and G’s Policies
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure Company policies, procedures and associated standards are maintained to exceptional levels in a safe and ethical manner. Where failings are identified, support implementation of practicable steps, identification of root cause and preventative measures.
- Conduct thorough and appropriate worker interviews regularly as part of in-depth reporting and investigation.
Capacity building:
- Develop, deliver, and review capacity building training (including supporting materials) for relevant ethical and human rights issues.
- Maintain, research, and develop reporting tools & policies; and contribute to continuous team development and support of internal processes and infrastructure for high level ethical and human rights due diligence.
- Represent the business in industry forums when required and drive strategic thinking and working.
Compliance Management:
- Support the delivery of the company ethical sourcing strategy, which includes, among other topics developing human rights due diligence for suppliers and service providers and supply chain management responsibilities.
- Identify labour and human rights risks within the Shropshire Group supply chain and support development methods and controls to prevent and mitigate risk to the business.
Candidate Requirements:
Must haves:
- Experience in social auditing and risk assessments (SMETA, GRASP, etc)
- Experience in interview and investigation
- Knowledge of supply chains and SEDEX
- Travel throughout UK and abroad as necessary
Desirables:
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant Human Rights issues and ethical conflict resolution techniques.
- Experience in Ethical trading and Human rights issues an advantage
- Experience in ethical supply chain an advantage
- The ability to couple ethical programmes with commercial needs
- SA8000 Lead Social Auditor accreditation an advantage
- A balance of strategic and practical thinking
