Job Title: Graphic Designer
Salary: £36,101 to £37,625 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £36,101 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £37,625 will be via incremental progression.
Location: Hendon, Sidcup, and Westminster
This highly skilled Graphic Designer role will project manage the outsourced and internal Content Design teams end to end training needs in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), ensuring creative innovation within the MPS Learning and Development faculty.
This role will drive forward the Met’s ‘Curriculum Modernisation Programme’, delivering highly professional learning interventions to the MPS Learning Management System (LMS).
Reporting to the Creative Services Manager, a first-rate graphic designer with a recent portfolio that showcases your creative flair, but you’re also a highly hands-on self-starter.
This role follows the flexible working standard across L&D central services, a mix of remote and in office working.
Key Responsibilities

Designing and producing a range of digital and print materials, such as training materials, prerequisites, handbooks, front end UX LMs and digital platform layouts, social media graphics, brochures, internal presentations, infographics designs and video. Develop & maintain brand guidelines & brand design

Pioneer design and innovation across Learning and development. Present ideas and concepts to wider team & leadership

Collaborate closely with content Design Lead, Technical Designers, Developers, Videographers & wider team. Regularly meet with Content Design team to ensure graphic schedules align with overall curriculum plans

Design creative resource allocation across all L&D Content Design learning projects. Internal and External L&D communications and online training materials

Developing and presenting creative concepts and design solutions that align with client needs and project goals

Ensuring that all designs are aligned with brand guidelines and standards Communicating regularly with project managers and clients to ensure that projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard

Keeping up to date with design trends, techniques, and software, and applying this knowledge to your work

Manage daily graphic design production allocated by Creative Services Manager or Content Design Leads and work closely with key stakeholders throughout production. Quality assures outsourced graphic design with external partners, contractors, and freelancers where necessary

Build strong relationships across L&D and wider MPS faculties
- Keep accurate file version control and records to ensure quality assurance of published resources and materials

Experience

Proven design portfolio, with an understanding of creative thinking and design methodology

Experience growth mind set and a willingness to learn and stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in the field of graphic design and learning and development
- Desirable background in video and video editing
Knowledge

Experienced designer with experience of delivering successful creative digital and print projects

Familiar with Adobe CC and processes that improve the delivery of projects

Skills

Skilled to graduate degree level (or higher) in learning and design or equivalent technical degree or relevant industry experience

A strong portfolio that demonstrates your skills in graphic design, typography, layout, and branding. You should be comfortable working with industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, illustrator; and have a good understanding of design principles and best practices

Excellent skills in graphic design, including typography, layout, colour theory. Be able to create visually appealing and effective designs for various mediums, such as presentations, e-learning courses, infographics, and print materials

Be a good communicator, able to work well in a team, and have a passion for design and creativity

Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Products, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

A good understanding of instructional design principles. Be able to create designs that align with the intended learning outcomes and the needs of the target audience

Be able to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively and be able to work independently and collaboratively, meet deadlines, and communicate progress and challenges to stakeholders

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, understand their needs and preferences, and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement

Think creatively and come up with innovative designs and solutions that engage learners and facilitate learning outcomes

Work with Content Design Teams, designers, e-learning designers, videographers, and operational developer police officers
- Desirable: Publisher, Adobe Premier Pro, and aftereffects. A good understanding of e-learning technologies, such as learning management systems (LMS), authoring tools, and multimedia production software
