Graphic Designer
Location: Our offices are based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness
Type: Permanent role
Salary: £35,300 to £39,671 per annum, plus competitive benefits.
Hours: 36.25 hours
We’re searching for a talented Graphic Designer who can design and develop Audit Scotland’s reports and communications products, using our established brand style, for both internal and external communications. You will advise members of the organisation on best design solutions, including advising on and producing complex infographics.

Overall purpose of the role
You will be responsible for preparing Audit Scotland’s publications, and supporting materials, for online publishing. You will also develop graphics and new media for the web to support publications, events and announcements. You will regularly update content and publish to the website, working with the web team.
How you can help us
We are looking to recruit a permanent Graphic Designer. The right candidate will understand the importance of professional, attractive and clear publications. You will:
· Design, check and amend reports and other materials, using specialist DTP software, working accurately, quickly and methodically, and ensuring that agreed deadlines are met.
· Check reports to ensure house style is consistent and accurate.
· Liaise with authors, providing advice, actively searching for better ways to meet authors’ needs.
· Produce web-ready files, ensuring that material is produced to the highest quality and following current accessibility standards.
· Update and maintain key aspects of Audit Scotland’s website, such as uploading new publications.
· Handle multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, while meeting deadlines and working well under pressure.
· Create new media formats to support and develop current publications and add extra interactivity to our website.
· Work with the web team to produce graphics and media for the website, digital projects and social media.
· Develop and explore new software skills to produce new online media formats and new formats for communicating both corporate and internal developments.
Specific knowledge and experience
You are likely to have:
· A design-related degree or HND.
· Experience working in a similar role for a comparable organisation.
· Expertise in design, using Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
· Experience of updating websites using CMS.
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Experience of creating alternative formats for online documents.
· Ability to design graphics and media for the web and social media.
· Awareness of accessibility standards and guidance.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Methodical and highly accurate.
· Good understanding/experience of branding and house style.
· Work with a close-knit team and take an active part in planning and discussions.
· Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills.
