The Role
This role reports into the Senior Graphic Designer and will sit within the Creative Marketing and Media Team of Global Marketing and Student Recruitment. You will be part of a team that is focused on championing the brand across all our online and offline channels.
The role of Graphic Designer will be responsible for developing engaging and best practice creative designs that are to brief, across all Aberystwyth University communications and marketing campaigns to ensure a clear, strong and consistent visual presentation of the University’s brand.
You will work closely with other teams within the Global Marketing and Student Recruitment directorate, including Events, Global Opportunities, International Recruitment and Development, Marketing Conversion, and Student Recruitment and Widening Participation, developing a broad range of compelling artwork to support their activities. In addition, the role will also require supporting and networking with a wide range of academic and professional services across the University.
We operate in a fast-paced environment so we are looking for a creative and enthusiastic self-starter who will quickly be able to present messaging and concepts that are brand compliant.

What you’ll do
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Create, edit and implement designs for internal and external audiences across a wide range of media and channels, including but not limited to: email marketing campaigns, digital banners, corporate brochures, press ads, posters, pull-up banners, sales assets, promotional items, presentations and templates, data visualisation, internal-use videos, website and application mobile assets, content development, graphics for social media and animated GIFs.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to determine their graphic design needs.
- Manage stakeholder proposals from typesetting through to design, print and production.
- Work with stakeholders on briefing and advising them with regards to design style, format, print production and timescales.
- Develop self-service materials and tools to ensure departments are producing materials that are on-brand.
- Source and refine images, fonts and layouts using industry-standard software (Adobe Creative Cloud packages).
- Create and maintain templates, style guides and asset libraries.
- Follow direction from, and present creative work to the Senior Graphic Designer and Head of Creative Marketing and Media.
- Inspire and guide internal stakeholders to be creatively progressive through the application of inventive visual work.
- Assist the Senior Graphic Designer with building internal templates and on occasion lead sessions for internal stakeholders.
- Assist the Senior Graphic Designer to ensure that best design practice is undertaken and output is in-keeping with the University’s brand guidelines and visual identity.
- Steer and manage internal stakeholders to ensure that briefs align with the University’s visual identity and brand guidelines.
- Liaise with external printers on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest standard.
- Effectively manage your own workload and workflow to ensure deadlines are met and output produced to a high standard.
- Stay up to date with news, industry practices, emerging digital trends and culture, engaging with the wider creative community.
- Act in a professional manner at all times.
- Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.

Who you are – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required
Essential
- A degree in Graphic Design or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
- Experience of working and designing to bespoke organisational brand guidelines.
- Highly developed knowledge of and proficiency in the latest Adobe Creative Suite applications, and Microsoft Office, applications including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated history of professional development within the graphic design industry.
- Understanding of the creative needs of various digital channels e.g. social media, display advertising, email.
- Demonstrated creativity in the form of ideas-based concepts.
- High-level creative design skills with an advanced knowledge of design principles, layouts, branding and typography.
- Ability to effectively negotiate customer resistance to branding requirements and design concepts.
- Willingness and ability to work flexibly, weekend and evening work will be required; ability to undertake limited UK travel.
- Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level B1* or evidence to demonstrate an on-going commitment to learn Welsh to this level.
Desirable
- Experience of working within a Higher Education setting.
- Oral (Spoken) and Written Welsh Level C2.*
