Graduate Software Engineer
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Role: Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Leatherhead, Surrey

Livewire Digital designs Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions that provide reliable, optimised communications links that operate over cellular, terrestrial and satellite services. We are looking for a Graduate Software Engineer to help with the design and implementation of software components that form part of our RazorLink hybrid communications solutions that includes a scalable Cloud proposition known as Hybrid Communications as a Service (HCaaS).
Become part of our core development team currently working on contracts for the European Space Agency (ESA) and tier 1 global telecom companies.
Job Role:
Livewire Digital is a dynamic working environment. There will be an opportunity to be involved with a variety of project work, engage with stakeholders across all levels, and to be directly involved with system trials and customer workshops.
Main duties shall include:
- Investigating new solutions and methodologies and presenting findings
- Designing and documenting software components, including test configurations and procedures in conjunction with the core development team
- Coding and testing software components
- Working against an agreed implementation framework and defined objectives and deliverables
- Ensuring objectives are met within time and cost constraints
- Maintaining documentation relating to the development
- Attending regular team meetings to plan work and discuss progress
- Supporting the development team during client meetings
Do you have:
- A degree or similar in Computer Science or Electronics
- Experience with an object-orientated programming language
- An ability to quickly learn new skills such as programming languages and development tools with a methodical approach to design
- Project work experience that can demonstrate design and implementation skills
- A high degree of self-motivation and initiative and excellent attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly
- Clear communication skills, strong time management, and excellent team working skills
- The ability to analyse a complex problem, put forward design proposals, and articulate the merits of this approach to the development team
Nice to haves:
The below experience is highly desirable although not essential:
- Use of collaborative working tools such as the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence)
- Familiarity with Linux systems
- Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (Jenkins, Bamboo)
- Experience with Kubernetes Administration, Docker and IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Puppet
- Experience working with AWS (and / or other) cloud computing infrastructures and services
