Job description
This is a key time to be joining British Airways as we Build a Better BA. We take huge pride in our past – but we’re looking to the future as an airline that loves embracing the best of modern Britain. Our country’s creativity, diversity, style, wit and warmth are the same special qualities that make us who we are. If you’re made of the same qualities as us, you could soon be part of the next chapter of our story. Together as one team, we’re connecting Britain with the world and the world to Britain like no one else
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Beverage Development Executive to join the Onboard Experience Team at British Airways. The incredible variety of the aviation environment will provide an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and grow your beverage service career within a dedicated and encouraging team.
As a Beverage Development Executive, you will work with our Master of Wine to develop both drinks lists and best-practice beverage service across all the cabins and in our UK lounges, to drive customer satisfaction.
Lists you help develop will reflect Britain’s role in the drinks trade, connecting Britain with the world of wine. They will also showcase truly original British drinks, such as English Sparkling wine, gin, Scotch or English breakfast tea, whilst ensuring the menus meet the British Airways design styling and provide a differentiated standard.
Using your sommelier service experience and knowledge within beverage hospitality, you will support the development and delivery of published wine and other beverage lists, with accompanying information for our cabin crew at the point of service, as well as the shaping of standards of service for drinks on the ground and in the air.
Duties will include:
- Supporting wine sourcing, blind tasting set ups and selection of wines, as well as curating menu descriptions for publication on board and in our lounges
- Day-to-day ownership of key supplier relationships for non-wine beverages, including spirits, beer, tea, coffee, water, juices and minerals
- Defining of the beverage service design pillars for service of drinks in each cabin and in our lounges
- Supporting the development and delivery of drinks service training for cabin crew and in our lounges
- Providing industry benchmarking with high-end restaurants, hotels, travel companies and other airlines, and building strategic relationships as required
The successful postholder will hold a minimum of WSET Level 3 in Wines or equivalent CMS qualifications, and will have experience within either a 5-star hotel, high quality restaurant or member’s club delivering the beverage experience. WSET Level 2 in Spirits will be an advantage, as would experience within an airline or knowledge of the lifecycle of products.
Our Corporate and Support roles come with big potential to make your mark on our business. The airline industry changes so fast that we’re constantly evolving and finding new ways to impress customers and get ahead of our competitors. If you’re an innovator and brave and bold thinker, you will be in your element at British Airways.
Your impact on British Airways will be rewarded with a competitive rewards package plus the opportunity to develop and progress your career in many directions.
Not only will you have the chance to further your career development within BA, you’ll have access to our competitive reward and benefits package. This includes core company paid benefits such as a Defined Contribution pension scheme, generous Life Assurance cover and a whole host of options to support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing. You can also sign up for a range of voluntary benefits such as Private Medical cover, Dental and Critical Illness cover, Technology Scheme, Cycle to Work and Electric Car Scheme. And of course, you’ll be able to enjoy the benefit of staff travel as soon as you join us
