Ground Heat are recruiting for a Graduate Design Engineer - Renewable Heating and Energy to join the team. This is a full time, permanent role.
The Role:
Working for Ground Heat and CAN Renewables, part of the RSK Group this role is for a graduate engineer who wants to start their career in renewable heating and energy systems design and installation. As a graduate engineer in our team, you will see projects through from initial feasibility, through detailed design and on to construction, monitoring and maintenance.
The Ground Heat and CAN teams have a wealth of experience in ground source, air source and water source heating systems, Solar PV and battery systems, EV chargers and wind turbine maintenance. We are looking for a graduate engineer to join our team and develop their skills in renewable engineering, initially focusing heavily on heat pump design, battery storage and solar PV systems.
Training will be provided, this is very much a learning role and whilst some experience in the renewables sector would be beneficial, of much more importance is a practical engineering mindset and masses of enthusiasm to learn.
Location:
Ideally, we are looking for candidates who live near, or are willing to locate near to our Wigan or Chesterfield offices. We will consider outstanding candidates for remote working but regular travel to our offices and therefore working away from home would be required. Whilst the role is predominantly office based, especially in the first year, some flexible home working will be possible for all candidates and travel for site visits will be required.
Responsibilities:
Ensuring the highest standard of customer care throughout enquiry process from initial contact through design, survey, pricing, job awarded to handover to operations.
Design renewable heating systems and energy systems following good working practices to ensure compliance with current legislation (health and safety, environmental and quality) and company policies.
- Produce High quality technical drawings, plans and schematics based upon designs and modifications.
- Produce heat loss and energy calculations for domestic and commercial properties
- Provide accurate, detailed and to scale drawings and schematics
- Produce quotations for domestic and commercial installations
- Conduct site visits and surveys to domestic and non-domestic installations
- Complete Tenders and technical bids
- Assist with commissioning by producing all the relevant design documentation.
- Liaise with clients
- Provide project managers with contract handover, ensuring cost, quality and timing targets are clearly defined
Person specification:
- Engineering degree essential
- Excellent written and verbal communicator
- An enquiring and practical mind
- Autocad/ Solidworks very beneficial and Microsoft Office proficiency essential
- Driving licence extremely beneficial (or demonstrated commitment to obtain one)
