You’ll be joining the Information Advantage part of our Defence Business Unit and as part of the AI & Visualisation team, you will be focusing on leveraging Augmented Intelligence to derive insights from the data retrieved from the battlefield and harness the power of machines to analyse data the data at both HQs and the tactical edge to deliver situational awareness at its best.
You’ll be a recent graduate with an exposure or keen interest in the development of deep learning algorithms using Python, machine learning methodologies and 3D Visualisation. You will also have initial knowledge of Statistical and Mathematical Data Science and explainable AI. An understanding of other computer and data science topics is also desirable.
The projects you will be involved with will include working both autonomously and as part of a team, this may include teams with a mixture of specialisms where you may provide a key link between the deep engineering community and the customer. You will have the opportunity to take part in demonstrations and presentations to both internal and external customers.
As a Graduate Data Scientist, you’ll spend the first six weeks of your time in a specially created boot camp that equips you with the fundamental skills required to succeed at Roke. After this, you’ll join a live project, continue to receive training, and start to contribute directly, building client relationships and supporting bidding activities to win new business. Your graduate scheme will last two years and provide plenty of variety, giving you the opportunity to develop a portfolio that can be used to showcase your developing skills during regular salary reviews.
The Key Requirements...
- A recent degree-level qualification in a STEM related subject
- An initial knowledge or understanding of:
- Machine learning methodologies
- 3D Visualisation using Unity
- Deep learning
- Statistical and Mathematical Data Science
- Visualisation in Data Science Explainable AI

Where you’ll work…
Alongside hybrid and flexible working options, you’ll work in either our Romsey or Woking office….
You’ll find our Romsey site located within beautiful Hampshire countryside, close to the picturesque New Forest District and not far from a superb stretch of the south coast. This is no corporate, concrete jungle; this is a manor house site, with ample parking, an on-site gym and sports field.
Our Woking site is in a modern building on the outskirts of London. Rated excellent for sustainability by BREEAM & Fitwel certified – you’ll feel better for visiting. This site provides key links to our customers in London, is a 5-minute walk from the train station, has secure parking nearby and dedicated cycle storage.

Due to the nature of this position, we require you to be eligible to achieve BPSS and SC. As a result, you should be a British Citizen, have resided in the UK for the last 5 years and prepared to declare any travel that includes being out of the UK for more than 28 days in the last 5 years.
