About The Service
Cardiff Council is a local government organisation responsible for delivering over 700 different services to our citizens, visitors, and businesses across Cardiff. The Council’s Digital & Customer Services stats Team are offering the opportunity to join them as a Business Analyst in Customer Services. The Stats and Support Team provide statistics for all areas within the customer and digital services teams ranging from the main contact centre for Cardiff council (C2C) to the Test, Trace and Protect service we run on behalf of the Welsh Government. We are the leading experts on Microsoft Power BI within the council and full training will be given on this new Microsoft package. Power BI accreditation can be gained within the team which is a very sought after skill in the stats and data visualisation sector.
About the job
In this Business Analyst role you will gain an understanding of our service and will learn to develop a wide range of workplace skills and experience, as well developing knowledge and understanding of the work and responsibilities of working in Local Government in Cardiff. You will gain invaluable experience in: • Working as part of a team • Using Microsoft Office Packages • Creating and maintaining complex Data Models within Power BI • Producing statistics to measure performance • Using state of the art Microsoft interactive Power BI software • Full training on software packages that can be taken forward into other roles • First line of IT support for a busy contact centre • Skills in data analysis, forecasting and presentation methods. • Networking opportunities through workgroups and meetings The team will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties. You will receive supervision and on the job training from the Implementation and Delivery Manager and will have support to deliver meaningful reports and analysis in a positive, customer-focused manner. We are a homeworking team and you will be encouraged to develop the skills to support this. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity.
What We Are Looking For From You
We’re looking for someone who has experience of delivering Business and Data Analysis within a Customer service setting which have had a positive impact on service delivery and customers. The successful candidate will have good communication skills with an ability to build and share analysis and data visualisations to a wide and varied audience. The successful candidate will have good planning skills with experience of prioritising work and an ability to work to tight deadlines. This role will also be responsible for managing existing Power BI reports created by the team and ensuring that feedback is gathered from users and changes implemented based on these. A basic understanding of project structures and principles will help the candidate succeed, with an organised approach to work and documentation as a key skill.

This post is temporary until 30th September 2023.
