Job Overview
- The responsibilities of a Data Analyst revolve around leveraging energy data to optimise energy usage, promote sustainability, and drive cost-effectiveness in energy-related operations. You will play a crucial role in helping Mitie Energy make informed decisions to achieve our customer's energy-related goals and objectives.
- The job objectives of a Data Analyst consist of energy data collection, data cleansing, energy consumption analysis, data processing, data updates and energy reporting.
- The Data Analyst will be required to manage contract and data information and will therefore be responsible for ensuring that any changes made are coordinated and information shared throughout systems. All automatic, manual and industry data must be up-to-date and accurate in all systems. By integrating energy data from different sources, you will be responsible for creating a comprehensive view of energy consumption and usage.
- The Data Analyst will be responsible for managing relationships with metering agents and suppliers, but also liaising with Energy Managers and other departments regarding portfolio health checks and data issues.
Main Duties
- Liaising with clients, data providers and suppliers to gather data, resolve queries and discuss performance, portfolio changes and other issues
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency by cleaning and pre-processing energy data, handling missing values, and identifying outliers
- To ensure all automatic and manual data is accurate and up to date in all systems for reporting
- To ensure all industry data required for specific services are accurate
- All contract and client contact information is fully updated
- All site and meter information is kept up to date
- Validating consumption data for all utilities, including sub-metering against billing and/or other data sources where available
- Client liaison and attendance of some client meetings where required
- Analyse energy consumption patterns and trends to identify opportunities for energy efficiency and cost savings
- Maintenance of on-line reporting and dashboards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate energy data analysis into various projects and initiatives; provide support to other departments
- Produce and update reports
- Monitor software users and ensure accurate access is set up for each user
- To manage workload as directed by the Manager
- Ensure all processes are followed and checked off at each stage where appropriate
- Ensure compliance with energy-related regulations and standards
- General office administration
- Any other duty which reasonably falls within the scope of this role
- To monitor incoming tasks and requests and to take ownership of any relevant queries
- Record tasks worked on and completed (timesmart and Work flow tracker)
What we are looking for
- Able to demonstrate self-reliance and ability to manage own time and to prioritise multiple tasks
- Strong analytical and statistical probing skills
- Good PC skills with an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel (including Pivot tables & lookups) and Power BI
- Organised & Accurate
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- To be able to articulate the results of work clearly
- To be able to interrogate data and provide results as requested
- Be able to interpret Manager's expectations into clearly defined actions
- Be involved in team discussions and be able to ask questions if actions or outputs are not clear
- Able to communicate inefficiencies in the current processes
- To question current ways of working if there are better ways
- To ensure all work is accurate prior to checking by the Manager
