Do you enjoy being in a changing and dynamic environment? Are you passionate about improving the lives of babies, children, young people and their families with life limiting conditions? Do you have the ability to engage and work alongside people?
We are looking for a values driven and enthusiastic person to join the Family Support Team to help develop our service for children with life-limiting conditions and their families and also to work alongside our multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive service.
About You
You will ideally be qualified to a minimum of an HND level in a relevant subject area, and will have palliative care experience of working with children with complex care requirements. Experienced in working with families at times of acute stress and loss, you will have strong communication skills with the ability to manage highly complex and sensitive information and will have awareness of counselling and therapeutic interventions currently available. You will be able to work independently as well as being an enthusiastic team player. You will need to be highly organised with the ability to deal with competing demands in order to co-ordinate, develop and deliver a service provision designed to assist with issues related to the baby, child or young person’s condition and the impact it has upon the wider family.
About CHAS
At CHAS, staff and volunteers work together as one team, focused on the common goal of reaching every family in Scotland who needs our support. We have a 3:1 ratio of volunteers to staff members in CHAS. All CHAS staff will at some point work with or alongside volunteers and will be expected to support volunteers.
Our ambition is to reach every family in Scotland in partnership/collaboratively with local services when they have a child with a life limiting condition, and offer them our care and support to empower them to make the most of the short time they have together. As a Child and Family Worker, you will be instrumental in achieving this vision.
