Job Description


This is a full time Graduate opportunity starting with AECOM. As a Graduate joining AECOM, you'll start your exciting career on our 2-year structured programme. It will equip you with relevant skills, help you manage projects efficiently, whilst shaping your leadership style. Specialist technical modules relevant to your discipline will complement the core elements, to grow your confidence within your role, providing the perfect launch pad for your career.


AECOM plays a critical role in the conceptualisation and creation of amazing spaces, delivering projects and buildings that define skylines and communities. AECOM Buildings & Places is made up of dedicated teams delivering projects in Commercial, Residential, Hospitality, Sports Venues, Workplaces, Education, Government and Healthcare.

Palace of Westminster, Southbank Place, Arctic Science centres, The Bank of England, BBC Broadcasting house, The Titanic building in Belfast and the St Pancras Chambers Hotel in London.

This Graduate BIM Coordinator role will be reporting to the BIM Manager and assist in the development of BIM workflows and implementation across the business as well as providing hands-on BIM services for live projects.

Role Structure:

Role Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with the BIM manager, designers and engineers in coordinating designs through the use of BIM models whilst assisting the design team to improve the delivery of drawing packages and documentation using the digital toolset

  • Assist in the role of gatekeeper of all in-coming and out-going model and drawing deliverables within CDE.

  • Work with the BIM manager to ensure an overall design philosophy is appropriate and satisfies each discipline’s individual requirements to achieve design coordination

  • Learn how to troubleshoot problems that arise in a rapidly changing digital construction environment

  • Assist in managing submissions by ensuring that proper QA/QC process are implemented and delivered

  • Knowledge share skills attained to colleagues and other stakeholders

  • Learn how to self-manage your own workload in order to achieve common project goals by liaising with others (engineers, technicians and external parties) such as the production of BIM models

  • Represent AECOM’s interests in external meetings, written, and oral/presentations

  • Learn how to communicate thoughts and technical ideas to problems in layman terms

  • Engage in the process of developing either team or client BIM procedures/standards and assist in facilitating their implementation into projects and programmes


Minimum Requirements :

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology or Construction Management, BTEC in Building Studies, Building Engineering or Building Management or a HNC / HND

Competencies:

  • Ability to work BIM tools such as Revit, Navisworks, ACC, SharePoint, etc.

  • Experience in creating dynamo and grasshopper content would beneficial

  • Knowledge of how buildings go together and building services design is also preferable

  • Also show and interest and passion for all aspects of the built environment and how ideas become reality through the use of computational design

  • A passion for problem solving by tackle both large scale/conceptual level and detail/task level problems

  • Professional demeanour

  • Detail and accuracy oriented and always eager to learn and progress your career by taking initiative

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Working experience, ideally in the discipline of digital construction and experience of advanced BIM technology would be advantageous


You must have the right to work in the UK and be able to obtain
BPSS clearance for this role.
