What You Need to Know
We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Applications Engineer to join our team based at Beacon Park, Great Yarmouth.
Our Engineering Department is engaged in the design of industrial control systems for the energy sector. Upon joining us, you will have exposure to the key aspects of the products and services the team design and support.
On assignment of product or project based tasks, you will work with colleagues to design and implement control systems comprising electrical, electronic, SCADA/HMI, PLC/RTU, and documentation elements, among others.
You will also work with other departments to assist in delivering the materials, manufacture, test, and commissioning of systems as required, as well as interfacing with customers to ensure their requirements are met.
Personal development will be through a combination of training, practical experience, mentoring and self-learning. Tasks will be assigned to provide opportunities to develop base engineering knowledge into a technical understanding of industrial control systems. Involvement supporting other company functions and Proserv’s customers is a key aspect to the role which may on occasions require domestic or international travel.
Some of the Key Accountabilities (includes, but not limited to the following)
- Demonstrate involvement, learning and personal development
- Develop knowledge of company products, projects, and processes
- Ensure technical solutions conform to relevant specifications and standards
- Ensure the timely delivery of agreed scopes of supply
- Work with others to ensure the highest quality, performance and safety of supplied solutions
- Generate documentation to allow design, procurement, manufacture, test, installation, operation & maintenance of systems & equipment.
- Compliance of deliverables with company QA/QC requirements.
- Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management.
- The majority of the work to be undertaken will be at the Great Yarmouth facility. However, occasions may require site working (commissioning, testing or support) both in the UK and overseas, including offshore environments, where direct liaison with the client is also undertaken on behalf of the company.
- Good level of personal fitness to enable job holder to maintain offshore survival certificate in addition to a valid UK driving license and passport.
Qualifications
Education
Required
- Engineering qualification at degree (BEng) level or equivalent
Preferred
- Engineering qualification in an automation, electrical, energy or technology related subject.

- Knowledge of energy industry (renewable or oil & gas)
- Experience of OEM automation equipment operation
- Understanding of control system design, build and equipment concepts
- Knowledge of automation systems communications protocols
- Understanding of data analytics concepts
- CAD package experience
- Experience of overseas travel
- Experience of work placement in an engineering company
