Caythorpe and Ancaster Medical Practice have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Dispenser to join one of the UKs largest dispensaries where we have invested in robotic dispensing technology. As a rural practice, with no pharmacies within our catchment area, we dispense medication to the majority of our patients.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will be qualified to NVQ L2 or above and have previous dispensary experience while being confident working with the general public/patients.

Job Summary:
The post-holder will project a positive and friendly image to dispensary customers and other visitors, while dealing with queries in a professional, courteous and efficient way, ensuring a high-level of service is delivered at all times.
To be responsible for the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions in accordance with Practice policies and current legislation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the core responsibilities of the Dispenser. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Dispense prescriptions to the entitled population in accordance with Practice policies and procedures, ensuring there are no discrepancies
- Support the Dispensary Supervisors in ensuring a high-level of service is delivered at all times
- Collection of prescription charges/checking patient exemption statements
- Cash handling and banking
- Operation of efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the dispensary with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage
- Ensuring that drugs are received and stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the manufacturers instructions
- Ensuring that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintaining the temperature control record/logbook
- Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters
- Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed with in accordance with practice policy
- Provide guidance for trainee dispensary staff and students as necessary
- Remain current with the latest guidance ensuring the dispensary conforms to SOPs, NICE, CQC etc guidance
- Cleaning work surfaces and shelving on a regular basis and ensuring that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and kept in good working order.
- Maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions.
- Undertaking any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Dispensary Supervisor(s), Practice Manager or the Partners.
