We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compound Receiver to join our team at the Southampton port. The Compound Receiver plays a crucial role with providing an effective and efficient cargo management, which delivers a professional service to the customer and supports the department overall function.
Whilst this role is customer facing, you are also responsible to to process cargo both receiving and releasing cargo handled by ABPS on behalf of our customers. We require you to have attention to detail and an understanding that there can be costly repercussions from errors made during the receiving process. You will be providing accurate reports and grids depending on the specific customer contract and service level agreement.
Accountabilities:
· Maintain and monitor working practices.
· Be always flexible to suit challenging operational requirements.
· Ensure customer and manufacturing requirements are maintained on both quality and standards.
· Support and maintain a high level of communication between yourself and the customer and your superiors.
· Always maintain high level of disciplined workmanship in support of your Company handbook.
· Demonstrate a clear understanding of procedures in relation to the receiving, release, shipment of cargo and control of compound / quayside stocks as required by ABP Stevedores and its Customers.
· Have a clear understanding of Compound Management System and provide support and guidance to Operational Staff as required.
· Be flexible to work in all aspects of the Port of Southampton and any other location within a 10-mile radius of the Port.
· Any other duties that may be deemed to be within your capabilities and commensurate with your role.
Qualification & Experience Required:
· Minimum 2 years’ port industry experience.
· Full and clean driving license.
· Good communication skills when interacting with delivery drivers, ABP Stevedores and its Customers.
· Awareness of receiving and releasing cargo process.
· Able to understand and complete Stock Reports for Management and Customers and provide Cargo information to the Operational staff as required.
· Understand quality system in respect of standards required.
· Basic understanding of Microsoft packages ie. Excel.
The standard workweek for the Compound Receiver is from Monday to Friday, with the shift starting at 9:30 AM and ending at 18:00 PM. It's important to note that while weekend coverage is voluntary, there might be situations where the Compound Receiver is required to work outside of the standard shift pattern, this could include instances where there is an increased workload, unexpected events, or urgent operational needs.
