Global Surge – Programme Management
Job location: Homeworker, with deployments up to 75% of the year
Salary: £47,000
Contract: 18 months, Fixed Term Contract
Are you experienced in the areas of emergency coordination and operational management in International Humanitarian contexts?
The British Red Cross is now seeking to recruit a Programme Management specialist to join our Global Surge Team and provide immediate technical capacity to field operations. The role increases our capacity to provide assistance at short notice in the area of Programme Management to Red Cross Red Crescent Movement activities, during any stage of the Disaster Management Cycle.
The Global Surge - Programme Manager will often be selected to lead Emergency Response operations and contribute to the management of all resources required to make those operations successful. As such, this role requires someone who is highly adaptable and able to provide supportive leadership in constantly changing contexts and environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy for up to 3 months at a time worldwide, in support of a wide range of humanitarian contexts. Provide strategic direction and manage/support initial assessments of response and recovery options.
- As required, deploy as part of a response team. Coordinate the development of the Plan of Action against the IFRC emergency appeal and budget. Manage and lead a team of delegates, staff, and volunteers.
- Participate, and where appropriate lead, in relevant internal and external coordination.
- Facilitate or support the delivery of BRC, IFRC, or ICRC capacity building activities and contribute to the revision or deployment of new training curricula.
You have proven experience in planning, management, implementation, and monitoring of multi-faceted projects or programmes.
You have strong analytical skills in multi-sectoral assessments, response option analysis and project design. You demonstrate strong skills in diplomacy, negotiation, influencing, and advocacy.
