Job description

About Us
Lancaster University is a highly ranked global university. We attract outstanding students from many different backgrounds and deliver a high-quality education in the UK and overseas, equipping our graduates to succeed in their chosen careers. Ranked in the top 150 universities in the world and in the top 15 in the UK, Lancaster continues to sustain and enhance its reputation for teaching and research excellence both nationally and internationally.

Our four strategic global partnerships offer Lancaster degrees in China, Germany, Ghana and Malaysia. The vision for these partnerships is to offer a full university experience across teaching, research and engagement. Our strategy aims to realise the potential of this network to enhance our reputation as a transnational University, operating as interconnected campuses and strategic partners - a global HE ecosystem that enables a distinctive offer and brand.

The university places great emphasis on a strong student experience: students coming to Lancaster broaden their horizons, learn new subjects, find new perspectives and discover new experiences as part of a community that reaches around the world.

The Role
The Global Experiences Operations Manager role sits within the Global Experiences team. You will support the University’s mobility and internationalisation strategy by ensuring that an efficient and high level of service is delivered to outgoing and incoming students, and related stakeholders. With responsibility for operational management of the portfolio of opportunities and the team (including line management responsibility), this role will also manage a range of projects that respond to organisation need.

You will be highly user focused and able to demonstrate a track record of delivery. You will bring experience of project / programme management and business process improvement which you will use to develop our systems as we look to streamline the mobility and student funding processes across the university.

The Team
The Global Experiences team currently has 11 members of staff. Collectively, the team are responsible for student mobility at Lancaster University, including:
  • Study Abroad
  • Credit-bearing summer schools
  • Short programmes overseas
  • Internationalisation and digital projects
  • Mobility funding

It is a very busy team with a wide range of activity across the year. We have experienced a regularly changing landscape in recent years with Brexit, Turing funding and Covid, which drives us to be innovative and responsive to the many changes that have impacted student mobility.

What we are looking for
We are keen to find an enthusiastic and proactive role model; someone who has a positive ‘can do’ attitude and can bring people alongside them in a busy and complex environment. You will have experience of delivering significant programmes of activity working in collaboration with others.

The ideal candidate will also be highly organised, have excellent communications skills and enjoy working with multiple stakeholders.

Additional information
We are located in a beautiful part of North West England with great facilities and a warm, welcoming community. We offer an occupational pension scheme, a generous annual leave allowance, excellent training and development opportunities, flexible benefits and an employee assistance programme.
