What do you need?

A minimum of 5 GCSEs, A-Levels or a level 3 qualification (apprenticeship or BTEC in a relatable subject) or relevant experience.

Whilst qualifications are important, we’re also looking for you to:

  • Passionate about the environment and have an awareness of your surroundings.
  • Be an excellent communicator and be able to converse widely with various teams.
  • Have great team working skills but also be able to work independently, putting customers at the heart of everything you do.
  • Be focused, well organised, have excellent time management skills and the dedication to succeed.
  • Able to prioritise effectively; managing the demands of study whilst being able to contribute effectively to the engineering team
  • Preferably hold a full UK driving licence & If using your own vehicle, you will require business use on your insurance policy.

It’s a chance to work towards a level 4 qualification whilst gaining experience in a relevant environment, you’ll complete your apprenticeship through Firebrand Training Limited via a mix and blend of online/virtual learning and periodic residential block release at their dedicated training centre in Wyboston Lakes, Bedford where accommodation will be provided.

As a GIS Data Analyst you will acquire the following expertise and be trained on:

  • How to structure, organise and present geographical data;
  • Survey data necessary for use in modelling such as flow, water quality and sampling data.
  • Using GIS to investigate performance issues as well as investigating future data. This insight will be used to present compelling cases for investment and/or evidence the root cause issues to be addressed etc.
  • Insight into using GIS to evidence needs for system planning and help with providing evidence of business investment cases.
  • Investigating outline strategies / plans in collaboration with system planners and strategists necessary to support investment plans / cases.

The training will be sufficient for you to attain Tech Eng / IEng CIWEM status. As part of this role you will also be given training and insight to IAM principles providing you with the breadth of knowledge & skills to extend out Modelling into wider Asset Management principles.

This role is based in Reading. The starting salary will be from £20,000 with a yearly pay review and full studies funded by Thames Water. You’ll also receive 24 days holiday, pension and other benefits. Travel costs are covered for travel to and from your university studies.
