You will be joining Geoscience department. We are a diverse, high-performing team of geoscientists and have an active role in the continual development of the team. Your role
As a Senior Geophysicist focusing on environmental and consenting surveys, you will have the responsibility to deliver geophysical products and technical notes/reports for our wind farm portfolio at all stages of project development.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Represent the Geoscience team as a technical authority on environmental geophysical surveys
- Scope, plan, procure, manage and deliver environmental and consenting geophysical surveys
- Manage contractors and consultants involved in survey acquisition, interpretation and reporting
- Managing interactions with consenting, environmental and archaeological colleagues
- Manage environmental laboratory testing campaigns
- Develop procedures and processes to benefit the department working towards standardisation of deliverables.
- Act as a role model for junior colleagues and help develop their skills and competencies within your area of expertise.
You will be reporting to the Manager of Geophysics.
Location
The location of this position is flexible with London (UK), Kolding (DK) or Hamburg (DE) being our preferred locations, but for the right candidate we are willing to consider appointments within reasonable commuting distance of any of our European offices.
Your profile
We are looking for candidates with both practical experience and academic knowledge. You will come from a geoscience, consenting/environmental or engineering background. You will be able to proactively apply your knowledge in support of our strategic goals.
You will be motivated, efficient and organized. You shall be able to juggle competing priorities whilst remaining motivated and making decisions independently. We foster a psychologically safe working environment within the team as such you will be willing to help and support others as well as provide and receive feedback and support on technical and project decisions as needed.
Candidates should possess most of the following skills and experience:
- A master’s degree or PhD in geophysics or environmental studies
- Five years relevant geophysical experience (working for a contractor, consultant or developer).
- Experience in managing geophysical survey works
- Experience in analysing the following datasets for the purposes of interpretation and production of technical reports:
- Multibeam echo sounder data
- Side scan sonar data
- Sediment grab sampling data
- Drop down video data acquisition
- sub bottom profiling data interpretation would be beneficial
- Proven experience in specifying and managing environmental laboratory schedules
- Proficiency in the following geophysical software packages for data QC, interpretation experience with other commercially available software packages should also be detailed in your application:
- Oasis Montaj
- ArcGIS
- Sonarwizz
- Navimodel
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required
- The ability and willingness to travel abroad occasionally for short durations when circumstances allow (e.g. to contractor, consultant and other Vattenfall office locations)
