About The Role
To provide a general surgical service necessary to meet the needs of patients under the care of the Emerson's Green Hospital and Devizes Surgical Centre. For full time posts the working week will comprise 40 hours (10 PAs); working patterns will be flexible and may entail an ad-hoc mix of late evenings and weekend work to meet the requirements of the Hospital. A commitment to provide out of hours on call cover on a rota basis will be required - post holders must be prepared to assess patients urgently in person on the unit as requested by the RMO on duty during routine working hours. Post holders will be expected to provide cross-cover for colleagues during periods of absence, including for example annual leave and study leave.
About You
You will have full and specialist GMC registration as well as experience of working in general surgery, this will include but is not limited to: Inguinal, Femoral, and other Hernia Repair – both Open and Laparoscopic, Haemorrhoidectomy and other Perianal Procedures , Cholecystectomy – both Open and Laparoscopic and Minor Surgical Procedures
As part of our professional, friendly and compassionate team you will do everything you can to ensure the patient’s treatment is of the highest standard whether NHS or privately funded. Reporting to our Hospital Medical Director, Andrew Oakerbee, you will be provide a full range of surgical diagnosis, treatment and care to inpatients, day patients and outpatients who require general surgery.

In this role you will participate in the audit, research and management of the services and may be allocated responsibility for the clinical supervision of junior medical and clinical staff. As UK registered medical professional, we will also support you with your ongoing CPD and medical career development.
