Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) Acute Medicine Team currently has 6.8 WTE Acute Consultants and now an opportunity has arrived for further outstanding GPs to join the Acute Medical team for up to 6 sessions per week.
The role would be on a sessional basis, 4 hours being equivalent to one session. The expectation would be to cover at least 2 sessions a day with a working pattern of 10am until 6pm. Currently, there are vacancies for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday sessions
These GP posts will be responsible for unselected take on Urgent Medical Assessment Centre (UMAC) alongside the Acute Consultants. The successful candidates will also participate in the further development of Same Day Emergency Care service and how this is integrated further with our partners. Ideal candidates would have research experience and help to develop our research capability; however, this is not essential.
The role is supported by a strong nursing team, ANPs, foundation and specialty doctors in training, and consultant physicians. All in-hospital diagnostic support is available to enable timely management of patients in the acute setting to facilitate same day discharge. It is expected that the successful candidate will be focused on the ambulatory patients with the scope to also broaden their experience with more acutely unwell patients in a well-supported environment

The GP role involves working alongside and supporting the Acute Medical Team in the unselected take by reviewing patients admitted from SPA through to the Urgent Medical Assessment Centre. The role is supported by nurses, ANP’s, foundation and specialty doctors in training, and consultants.
