Here at Healeys, we’re on a journey to expand our managed pub/ restaurant estate and have a top-secret site which is soon to join our portfolio. Since our humble beginnings as a cyder producer and visitor attraction, we have diversified into different areas of hospitality. We’re still in the early stages of this new venture but we have big ambitions! Last year we acquired Five’s, which is a lively pub/ music venue in the heart of Falmouth, and our new acquisition (in the Falmouth area) goes one step further. This is a truly iconic site which has huge amounts of potential, however it’s important to us that we have the right General Manager in place to drive the business forwards.
As General Manager you will be responsible for leading and energising a team to deliver exceptional customer service. You will have strong business acumen and a passion for developing people and business.
About you:
- You will lead a team of highly engaged staff/ managers to deliver an exceptional customer experience, continually reviewing feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
- You will take full responsibility for the set-up and effective operation of the site.
- You will have responsibility for the results achieved at the site, including but not limited to profit and loss (P&L) performance, stocks and standards.
- You will ensure that all licensed operations are adhered to, in line with Company policy and premises license, taking into account of security and the health and safety of people and premises.
- You will have a comprehensive knowledge of the business, bar, cellar, food service, kitchen and office, to ensure that best practice is maintained by the team and that any areas requiring improvement are identified.
- You will carefully control all aspects of finance in the business, including sales, gross profit, stock control, wages and controllable expenditure.
- You will be accountable for all cash management through the business, including third party providers, conduct thorough investigations for all cash-loss issues.
- You will regularly review P&L account with the team & the Head of Hospitality, agreeing on clear smart targets for improvements for any targets not achieved.
- You will maximise all sales opportunities, including the quality of food and drink service working with team to successfully manage every opportunity.
- Organise and host successful events which generate income, as well as grow the Healeys brand.
- You will plan rotas in line with budgeted targets and forecasts, taking the necessary daily action to reduce/increase hours, in line with sales.
- You will manage all stock management processes, including timely stock counts, line checks, wastage reports, loss investigation and appropriate staff training as required.
- You will monitor and manage all maintenance issues and manage third-party contractors, where applicable.
- You will lead the team, including motivating and coaching, holding performance reviews and following other people procedures.
- Identify recruitment needs and take an active role in search and selection activities and the appointment of staff, ensuring that all paperwork (including right to work documentation) is certified, copied and completed.
- You will promote effective communication with the team, through regular meetings (manager’s, heads of departments meetings to be held weekly and staff team meetings to be held monthly).
- Ensuring that all staff are suitably training and engaged, balancing compliance and behavioural development.
