About us
Hair of the Dog is a well-known Toronto neighbourhood pub and restaurant. We pride ourselves on a strong connection to the Church Street village and greater Carlton and Yonge downtown neighborhood. We’ve been in business for 23 years, serving excellent food in a friendly environment. We have a great outdoor patio and rooftop event space.
Of all the restaurants in the city we place within the top 200 when ranked on various consumer guest experience sites.
We value customer service and teamwork. We are not a big chain restaurant, neither are we a Mom/Pop operation.
We consider all our customers to be regulars, even if they’re new and don’t know it yet. Some of our guests may be daily, weekly, monthly, or only once a year..

As general manager you will be responsible for the following:
· Work with our staff to provide a great dining and drinking experience.
· Train new staff to fit into our company and culture.
· Manage the financials, and work to achieve and exceed established goals, build our lunch and winter business
· Work with the two assistant managers
· Spread the enthusiasm and energy of our business.
· Meet with the owners as required
· Menu development
Qualifications
· If you’ve had minimum 3-5 years previous restaurant management/supervisory experience in a comparable restaurant environment, we’re interested in meeting you.
· Communication is key, so you’ll need to speak and write English well. Another language is always an asset.
· Be comfortable using computers and learning new software.
· Have an ability to manage our restaurants with a high level of attention to detail. You should possess a “can do” mindset and enthusiastic personality.
· You’ll be establishing and managing sales goals, inventory, cash and other stuff that requires good math and analytical skills.
· Previous experience with scheduling, labour and food and beverage cost control, inventory management.
· Strong food knowledge
· Previous experience in developing and supporting the back of house and front of house teams.
· Smart Serve Certification.
· Food Handlers Certification
· Knowledge of health and safety
· Knowledge of provincial employment legislation.
· Possess the values of; service, hospitality, integrity, quality, leadership and kindness.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
