JOB PURPOSE:
As General Ledger Accountant your role is to provide support to the Financial Controller in managing the accounting and finance functions for the UK. We are looking for a strong, hands on accounting professional with an exceptional track record in the area of accounting, finance and controls.
You will be part of an international team working with operations on a regular basis. You will deal with WIP and deferred accounting, liaise with the group control and external parties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with operations to calculate the monthly work in progress and deferred revenue position
- Ensure the timely execution of month-end group reporting
- Overseeing the management of cash flow and debt collection
- Assist in investigating intercompany differences and help prepare documentation for the annual audit
- Ensure regular and ad hoc group reporting tasks and requirements are completed in a timely manner
- Co-ordinate and ensure the timely execution of local year-end financial statements, Audits and regulatory filings.
- Help develop and maintain consistent and best practices for internal and external accounting policies and procedures, as well as identifying and rectifying internal control issues
- Ensure that all financial policies and procedures are in accordance with statutory law and financial regulations
- Complete necessary tax forms, remits appropriate taxes, files all reports required by law
- Streamline and improve accounting systems and operations
- Involved in various projects like the implementation of new financial systems or the integration of acquisitions;
SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
- Circa 5 years experience in finance or accounting with proven management experience
- A professional accounting qualification or nearly qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
- A demonstrated decision maker who easily interacts with others
- Ability to respond well to change, who is flexible and adaptable
- Superb planning and organisational skills
- Demonstrates proactivity and taking initiative
- Strong analytical and business intuition
- Strong understanding of multi currency and multi entity consolidation set up
- Able to prioritise, display a sense of urgency as well as be detail orientated
- Ability to interact with management team and have shown the ability to excel in a fast paced changing environment
Nice to have:
- Experience in work in progress (WIP) and deferred revenue is a plus
- Experience in Netsuite is a plus
