We are looking for a GLS Technical Lab Support to join our OneSource team at our Customer’s major pharmaceutical site. To provide the day to day services required to support laboratory services to the scientific groups at GSK Ware-R&D. These include, but are not limited to: technical stewarding, dry-ice delivery, laboratory gas management, liquid nitrogen supply, glass-washing functions and associated ancillary activities, ‘glassware sample disposal’ and autoclave processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and provision of gas supply to the building and laboratories, where gas cylinders are utilized. Connecting and disconnecting from the manifolds.

  • Monitoring and provision of liquid nitrogen vessels supplied to the building and laboratories, where liquid nitrogen is utilised.

  • Maintain the supply of dry-ice in designated building locations, monitor dry-ice levels daily so that adequate supply is maintained.

  • Collection of dirty glassware from laboratories and delivery of clean glassware to agreed storage locations.

  • Operate glasswash machines as per agreed written instructions. Carry out routine glasswash machine quality checks as per agreed written instructions.

  • Handwash of post-autoclaved glassware and plastics prior to cleaning using glasswash machines.

  • Handwashing of items that are not suitable for cleaning using the glasswash machines to an agreed standard.

  • Check and prepare glassware and plastics for sterilizing using autoclave and dry heat ovens.

  • Pre-wash rinsing of analytical glassware prior to ‘glassware sample disposal’.

  • To attend training sessions appertaining to the post and ensure this training is documented in your training file. Maintain own training file.

  • Liaise on a daily basis with colleagues to support the Scientific Operations team.

  • To report any non-conformances, delays to Line Manager.

  • To maintain a clean and tidy area at all times.

  • To ensure that all records are maintained in accordance with compliance guidelines and to provide data for monthly reports on performance and service delivery.

  • To ensure regular checks of the equipment and machines used during the working day. Any faults/defects to be reported to Line Manager.

  • Understand and be able to apply the principles of GxP practice where applicable.

  • Carry out all requests and tasks in a helpful and professional manner, build relationships with key staff and consistently demonstrate a good customer service.

  • Provide support and cover for all departmental operations as required and to other departments as requested and reasonable.

  • Complete any Helpdesk requests within the set time frames.

  • Adhere to all company & client policies, procedures, site rules and regulations.

  • Comply with all company & client procedures relating to Health & Safety & safe working practices.

Competencies:

Essential

  • Good basic education.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety.

  • Self motivated and able to work under pressure to balance conflicting deadlines is essential.

  • Service orientated attitude combined with innovative thinking.

  • Strong team player with experience in a high quality customer service operation.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of chemicals and safe handling desirable.

  • Aptitude for technical and practical matters.

  • Experience within the pharmaceutical industry and the facilities industry.

  • Experience of working in an environment where compliance to standards is key.

  • Knowledge of COSHH.
