Job description
To be based on either of the two farms which are only a few miles from each other. Kenn and Exminster, Devon close to the M5, A30, A380.
The opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent general farm worker. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate competent beef cattle rearing skills, such as feeding, checking, weighing, TB testing, monitoring sickness and behaviour, bio-security protocols and general stock keeping skills. Additionally the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate competent arable operations, including cultivations, drilling, fertiliser application, trailer work, muck spreading, topping, mowing, raking, baling, stacking, hedge trimming, etc.
During the summer you will work as part of a team to undertake the arable operations alongside contractors.
Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
> Checking and feeding cattle
> Bedding livestock and general livestock husbandry
> Ensuring animal health and welfare
> Farm maintenance
> Tractor driving, to include harvest activities both arable and grass based
> Keeping the farm and equipment clean and safe to operate
> Reporting issues or observations
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who is willing to work to deliver high standards. Previous experience is required, but not necessarily on all of the above. Training can be provided to the right candidate.
There will be quieter times during the winter months which allows for a flexible working arrangement for those applicants who shoot game.
