Job description
Fosse Meadows is an established high welfare free range/ organic broiler and sheep farm, butchery and retail business. We are looking for a reliable and conscientious individuals who are organised. You will have a good understanding of livestock, with a definite interest in poultry and able to drive a telehandler and tractor. This is an active and diverse role with great opportunity for someone who is ambitious and wants to develop their career with an innovative successful livestock farming business.
Within the role you will be required to:
- Good communication skills, ensuring each days jobs are complete. highlighting issues and solutions where required.
- Looking after livestock, with a particular day to day focus on chickens, this includes bedding down, pressure washing, setting up sheds, feeding.
- Pressure washing, general cleaning of yard
- Chicken catching and moving birds.
- Working in on farm poultry abattoir & packing unit
- General farm work to include construction, groundworks and labouring.
Candidate Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will be physically fit, self motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated.
- A good eye for detail is essential and interest in keeping a tidy yard.
- The successful candidate must have an interest in livestock and animal welfare and want to develop their understanding of poultry
- This is a responsible position, which needs the successful candidate to be a team player and also happy to work alone.
- Shifts and hours can be flexible so we can take on full-time or part-time employees.
- Telehandler Certificates are a preference but training can be given.
- Poultry qualifications can be achieved
- Driving License, experienced with a telehandler
- Be reliable and committed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Basic construction skills and practically minded
- References preferable
Salary is dependent on experience and hours wanted. We offer 28 days’ holiday. Enrolment into Nest pension scheme. Working on a farm is not a typical office setting, so we're looking for farm hands who can take direction, work well with others and who have an interest in nature and agriculture. The job requires hard work, including lifting items and bending, but is varied and interesting. The ideal candidate will also be able to make quick decisions when necessary.

Salary: £24,341.00-£26,535.00 per year
