This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Gas Engineer to upskill to become a Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineer.
Our industry leading 9-week training course will be delivered from our impressive training centre in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, accommodation and expenses* covered. Our dedicated trainers will provide you with everything that you need to deliver an excellent and safe service which in turn will result in job satisfaction.
The training course will be broken down to 5 weeks at the Wigan based training centre, 2 weeks in the field with a mentor, finishing with 2 weeks back at the training centre for final assessments.
Once fully trained the role will be out in the field installing smart meters in customers’ homes, a work van and fuel card will be provided and planned appointments for you to attend. There will be bonuses and on call opportunities available.

What you will need…
- Gas engineering experience
- Current CCN1 or CMA1/3 or CESP1 qualification
- Create a portfolio of work during training to support the qualification
- Commitment to our 9-week training programme
- Driving Licence entitling you to drive in the UK with no more than 6 points
- Have no unspent criminal convictions and be able to pass a basic Criminal Record Check (CRC)
Smart Meter Operatives joining the Company who meet the eligibility criteria will be able to apply for the internal EV upskill course, as soon they have completed a qualifying period.
The opportunity to convert to an EV Installation Engineer aligns with the Group strategy to grow capability in this area. This will provide a “one stop shop service” for our customers, in addition to offering development opportunities to our committed employees.
We may need to carry out some additional background checks in some circumstances such as CRB check in England and Wales and a Disclosure Scotland check in Scotland. These checks are necessary to meet legal obligations.
