Summary
Would you like to work within a wonderful horticultural haven with a great plant collection? Then look no further than Woolbeding Gardens; our little gem in West Sussex. Former Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli, when visiting the house, described Woolbeding as 'the greenest valley with the prettiest river in the world’. This could be your workplace!
We're looking for a motivated Gardener with an eye for detail to join the team for 6 months. You’ll work with a large team of staff and volunteers responsible for the maintenance of the garden and providing visitors with a fantastic visitor experience.
Interviews will be held on the 1st August 2023
Salary is £22,152 - £24,000 per annum dependant on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a hands-on Gardener, you’ll work in all areas of the garden with the whole team.
Maintain high standards
You’ll be passionate and enthused and knowledgeable about the varied plants within the garden and the work you do.
Undertake a variety of horticultural tasks
You'll be helping with general maintenance of the garden, such as mulching, pruning, leaf clearing and weeding. You’ll support with the planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants. You’ll be helping to cut the hedges and mow our fine lawns.
Managing and working with volunteers
You'll be making sure our volunteers are motivated and confident in the work they do.
Supporting and assisting the whole garden team
You will be working in all areas of the garden from the formal garden to the Silk Route and the Long Walk.

Who we're looking for
To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the below:
- Trained as a professional gardener/horticulturalist with a good level of practical experience.
- RHS Level 2 or equivalent.
- Have proven practical gardening/horticulture experience, as well as a strong knowledge of plants
- Confidence to participate in garden activities and events
- Competence with machinery/equipment use and maintenance; including tractors and pedestrian mowers with accreditation as required for Health and Safety compliance.
