Job description
Who are we?
Founded in 2014, Escape has quickly risen to become the UK’s largest escape room company. We have over 25 locations nationwide as well as several locations internationally. We have expanded our operations to include interactive axe-throwing, as well as several other ventures. We have exciting expansion plans underway with a variety of roles available.
What does the role consist of?
This role is located at our new family entertainment centre in central Newcastle. We are looking for full and part-time Games Masters. You must be available Saturdays and Sundays, as well as occasional weekday and evening shifts.
We are expanding our operations to include a board game cafe and kitchen, and are particually interested in candidates who have experience in similar roles. However this is not manditory.
The role will consist of looking after groups of customers from the minute they enter until the minute they depart. It is a varied role with a number of responsibilities. This is a multi-entertainment venue with a wide variety of tasks so flexibility is key.
- A real, warm, friendly welcome including a pregame group briefing.
- Cover all health and safety aspects, and set the scene for their experience.
- Managing the game to ensure that customers gain maximum enjoyment from the experience.
- Team debrief, answer questions and most importantly get a team photo.
- General cleaning and resetting, which can be extensive to align with HSE guidelines.
- Easy maintenance of some aspects of the site.
- Deal with phone and email enquiries, maintain site admin, and interact on social media.
- Undertake training when needed.
- Basic food preparation and hygiene.
What are we looking for?
Customer service skills – You need to be a confident individual who is comfortable speaking in front of groups of up to 30 and holding their attention. You must deliver excellent customer service to all teams.
Dependable - You must be able to work independently as the need arises. You will be responsible for keeping our customers safe and happy. You will be trustworthy and will communicate with the team effectively through Slack.
Initiative - You don’t need a great knowledge of puzzles and escape rooms; what you do need though is the ability to think on your feet. Things don’t always go to plan and sometimes you need to come up with solutions quickly.
Attention to detail – This will help you monitor the progress of all games in play accurately. It is particularly important when setting the rooms/lanes up for the next game and ensuring there are no mistakes.
Flexibility – We are potentially open from early morning to midnight 7 days a week depending on our customers’ requests. You need to be available to work evenings and weekends.
Computer skills – Nothing too complicated but you need to be comfortable using Excel, Powerpoint, our booking system, email and social media.
Teamwork - You must be able to work as a team player, supporting your coworkers and making a collaborative effort to solve problems as they arise.
How to Apply
Please send your CV through Indeed and include a cover letter saying why you think you would be suitable for the role and answer the question: what is your favourite game (of any kind) and why? Any applications which do not answer this will be disregarded.
Good luck!
