Job summary
NS&I are looking for a Content Designer to be responsible for creating clear, effective, compliant and accessible customer-facing content that meets NS&I’s brand values tone of voice and helps to optimise user-experience for customers.
You will deliver content design and communication outputs across multiple channels for projects, change requests and business transformation work. Working collaboratively with external suppliers and internal colleagues.
As well as content creation, you will also be required to assure content created by other members of NS&I’s communications community. Providing expert advice and guidance to help ensure all NS&I’s content is consistent and on-brand.

- Writing and content design skills with the ability to explain complex concepts for broad audiences.
- Knowledge of implementing UX design principles in digital solutions.
- An advocate for user-centred content design.
- Understanding of customer journey mapping.
- Systems thinking, with the ability to learn our systems and advise on best practice and processes.
- Design thinking, and a demonstrated ability to empathise with users.
- Experience of working with design tools, for example Figma.
- A data driven approach to content planning and creation, including knowledge of A/B testing skills.

Selection process details

In your application you will be asked to provide the following;
- An outline of your career history and qualifications with your key responsibilities and achievements.
- Provide a short statement for each of the selected behaviours, using examples from your experience and knowledge to demonstrate how you meet them.
If shortlisted you will be invited to attend a 1 hour panel interview via video call. We will send you an exercise in the interview invite to prepare a brief which you will be asked to talk through with the panel at the beginning of the interview.
The interview questions will focus on all of the selected assessed behaviours listed above.
Interviews will take place on the week commencing the 14th August 2023

A reserve list may be held for a period of 12 months from which further appointments can be made.

NS&I is currently trialling a Hybrid Working Policy and colleagues are expected to work in their office location a minimum of 40% of their working month i.e. two days per week for a full time employee.

NS&I employees on a fixed term contract moving to another fixed term role, will continue to be employed for a fixed term to the end date of this role. You may apply for suitable roles within NS&I or the civil service.
