The Role – Field Installation Engineers (FTTP) Locations – Boston (Lincs.), Worcester and South Yorkshire. Package – Salary in the range of £32,000 – £35,000 plus vehicle / fuel card, private healthcare & benefits The full fibre connectivity industry seems to have taken a knock recently, but some companies are still pushing forward by way of both build and customer connections. One of our key customers, a client side owner of the network are now looking to recruit additional field installation engineers to get involved from survey to customer connections across a range of areas in the UK – specifically Boston (Lincs.), Worcestershire and then across South Yorkshire. Due to those multiple locations, we’d be looking to talk with engineers based on or within easy range of those areas. You’ll report to the national field operations manager and working in a team, will be responsible for the final part of the customer journey, so FTTP all of the way from the access network to customer premises – residential and business. The connection will be from both U/G and overhead and will be via Openreach PIA and there is plenty of work and stability, with the company lighting up new areas all of the time alongside having a big push for further customer penetration. On that basis, we need to recruit people who can combine both the technical skills and brilliant customer experience, and working within a two person team, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of the install, and also contribution to service and faults. You’ll be involved from initial survey, and as the roll out speeds up, you’ll be part of the driving force behind lighting the customers up across the target regions. This is working on the client side, so you will be , it is a salary rather than price work and you won’t be hammered by KPI’s. It’s a Monday to Friday, normal working week and everything is brand new so you won’t be working with old equipment, and you won’t be in a business with old school attitudes – “This is how we have always done it” definitely isn’t a phrase you will be hearing. Working day would be something like 8am to 4pm. Who are you? A residential installer with brilliant customer experience skills and a proven track record of installing fibre based cable into customer premises. This is FTTP but we are happy to talk with good engineers even if you strictly haven’t done FTTP – the right engineers with HFC or FTTC can quickly be trained and it’s your attitude, personality and ability to contribute as an all-rounder that is key and the opportunity for you is that those engineers who join the business now, are in the driving seat by way of progression and moving upwards as this continues to grow. Some fibre blowing / splicing experience would be perfect. Ideally need SA001 and SA002 training. You’ll be NRSWA qualified, not mind climbing up poles and understand the specifics linked to health and safety. We need people who are ready to roll up their sleeves and get involved with all aspects of the customer install so that will involve everything from digging and pulling cable, all of the way through customer demonstrations. Full driving license is needed and the ability to pass DBS checks.
