Front-End Engineer – Fully Remote

Alternative Airlines is a fast-growing flight search and booking site. We have built a
strong online presence, www.alternativeairlines.com, with a friction-free flight booking
capability and an expanding, global base of delighted global customers.
We are seeking a talented front-end engineer to join our team and help us build exceptional user experiences for our website. As a front-end engineer, you will work closely with our design and product teams to translate designs and specifications into high-quality, responsive user interfaces. You will use your expertise in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to implement and maintain clean, efficient, and scalable code. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with back-end engineers to integrate front-end components with server-side functionality and contribute to the development of our technology stack. What does our Tech Team look like?
Technology is central to everything that we do at Alternative Airlines!
Our in-house tech team is always pushing the limits. We rapidly design, develop and test new products to improve both the flight search and booking experience and streamline our internal processes. Our tech team are back-end and front-end engineers, digital experience and product specialists.
Alternative Airlines is enjoying high growth with yearly rates over 100% from £9m in
2020 to £28m in 2021 and £63m in 2022. We are targeting £100m in revenue by 2025. Our site and the booking process is a key part of our success and we constantly improving the platform and process.

We work with latest frameworks and tools such as React, NextJs, Vercel and GraphQL, which means you’ll be able to write clean and modern code while staying up-to date with modern web technologies. You will be a part of our team, and your input and knowledge is valued.
A typical day for Front-End Engineers
Our front-end engineers work across the Alternative Airlines website front-end. Our team work on implementing new features into the flight booking process, creating customer-facing landing pages to promote new products and augment and enhance existing functionality. Working closely with UX/UI and design colleagues in our tech team, there are lots of opportunities for collaborative testing.
You will work in a cross functional team, having ownership and responsibility for the front-end of the Alternative Airlines’ site. The role will have real responsibility and decision-making authority to control and develop the platform of Alternativeairlines.com. You will have a hand’s on approach with a keen eye for bringing designs to life with great interfaces whilst maintaining the structural integrity and standard of the front-end codebase. Through effective design and implementation, the successful candidate will create excellent user experience across all devices including desktop, mobile and tablet.
Person Specification:
- 2+ years front-end web development experience
- A passion for working with HTML, CSS and JavaScript with a keen eye for detail
- Experience with NextJs and React useful, but not essential
- Experience building mobile friendly and responsive designs.
- Understanding and experience of version control including Git
- Self-starter attitude, taking ownership and driving forward projects to completion
