Job Summary
As a Forklift Driver at Cardiff Galvanizers & Powder Coating, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operations of our site. Your responsibilities will extend beyond operating a forklift, as you will also interact with customers both in person and over the phone. Your excellent paperwork skills will ensure that we meet the highest standards in customer service and documentation. Additionally, the role predominantly involves outdoor work, and you must be willing to work in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials and finished products within the facility.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, both in person and over the phone, to address inquiries and provide assistance.
- Maintain accurate paperwork related to materials handling, customer orders, and other necessary documentation.
- Collaborate with the small team to ensure seamless operations and provide support when needed.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and others.
- Willingness to work on a shift system, alternating between day and night shifts each week.
- Regularly work a Saturday morning to support production demands.
- Demonstrate reliability and a strong work ethic, including a willingness to work overtime regularly.
- Participate in the performance appraisal scheme after 3 months, potentially earning enhanced performance bonuses for outstanding performance.
- Previous experience handling metal work is desirable, but not mandatory.
Requirements
- Valid forklift driver's license and proven experience operating forklifts in an industrial setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers and maintain accurate paperwork.
- Ability to work effectively in a small team and support colleagues as needed.
- Flexibility to work on a rotating shift system and be available for regular overtime.
- Reliable and punctual, demonstrating commitment to meeting deadlines and customer expectations.
- Comfortable working predominantly outdoors and willing to work in all weather conditions.
