Job description
We are seeking to appoint someone with the passion and enthusiasm to join our Design Technology team as a Technician for 12 - 15 hours per week, term time only. Design Technology (DT) covers several subjects, including food preparation, textiles, resistant materials (woodwork), engineering and design. Ideally, we would like someone to be flexible to work around the key GCSE classes within the school timetable. This can change from year to year but for the rest of this academic year this is:
- Tuesdays (Food Technology) 8:30am -10:45am
- Wednesdays (Textiles/Food Technology) 08:30am -1:45pm
- Fridays (Food Technology) 1:00pm - 4:00pm
We are looking for a candidate with the skills and experience to make a real difference as we expand to our maximum capacity. We are looking for someone who will be a team player in this oversubscribed, friendly and high-achieving school where we challenge all students and staff to be the best they can be.
As our recent very successful Ofsted inspection in January 2023 notes,
“Leaders have high expectations for behaviour. They have acted decisively to address some issues as students returned from the national lockdowns, during which schools were only open to some students due to COVID-19 restrictions. Consequently, students are overwhelmingly respectful and polite. Most behaviour is excellent, especially in lessons where clear routines are embedded”.
We are an oversubscribed and friendly school with big ambitions and our staff and students are “proud to belong … proud to achieve”. “One parent described the school as having ‘a family approach’, a view mirrored by staff and students during the inspection” (Ofsted January 2023). Our growing school has undergone significant refurbishment over the last two years, with further plans in progress. Planning application has just been submitted for a state-of-the-art extension to our Drama studio and a new English block and library.
We are an 11-16 Academy of 870 students, growing to our maximum capacity of 900 in September 2023. We are situated in a fantastic location on the outskirts of Haslemere. Haslemere lies in Surrey, on the border with Hampshire and West Sussex and we have excellent road and rail links to neighbouring counties. We are situated just 3 minutes’ drive off the main A3 and we are also fortunate to have a train station in Haslemere on the mainline from Portsmouth to London Waterloo. This makes us very accessible from the South Coast or outer London areas by train or car.
Hours: 12 - 15 hours per week, term time only, 39 weeks per year.
Salary: WA4 10 -16 Full time equivalent £20,970 - £24,514 / Pro Rata Actual Salary £6,013 - £7,030 (12hrs per week) or £7,517 - £8,787 (15hrs per week)
